Terms and Conditions

Placing the work of art on paper by the customer into the care of the conservation studio is at the client’s own risk. The conservator accepts no liability however caused including accidental damage, fire, or theft. Insurance arrangements remain the responsibility of the client. Should they wish the items to be covered against accidental loss or damage them this can be arranged by prior agreement with the conservator.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS

1. CONTRACT: The agreed quote presents a written contract to approve my Proposed Conservation report. Any agreement made verbally is acceptable, but I would prefer a written postcard or email to commence Conservation. The agreement is made between Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd and the client. The client is identified as the person who requested the quotation. The acceptance of the quote, electronically or by any other means signifies a full acceptance and commitment to any accept these terms and conditions. Please note my quotation is not a fixed price.

2. PAYMENT: The client agrees to pay the invoice for completed work when collecting or within 7 (seven) days. Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd may request interim deposits during treatment. Details for direct payments are stated on the invoice.

3. CONFIDENTIALITY: Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd agrees not to misuse or disclose any confidential information that may be made available by the client

4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: All the documentation created during the project will be the exclusive property of Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd. A copy will be handed to the client upon request. The publication of such documents will not be made without the written consent of the client.

5. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd is under the responsibility of the client from the time of collecting/work delivered and throughout the project. All reasonable care will be taken to ensure work is completed to the highest standard. Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd will not be held liable for loss, expense or damage caused by any act or omission that occurs throughout the duration of the Conservation.

6. ARTWORK APPROVAL, ERRORS AND OMISSIONS: Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd take all reasonable care to check proof documentation for accuracy in all reasonable respects. However it is considered the responsibility of the client to check all artwork carefully before leaving the work with Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd. As a result, Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd is not liable for loss / or expense / or damage caused by any act or omission after sign off.

6. PRE-EXISTING DAMAGE: Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd will take photographs of your artwork before, during and after treatment.

7. CANCELLATION / TERMINATION OF CONTRACT: If the client wishes to cancel/terminate the agreement and discontinue any work in progress, the client must notify Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd immediately of this intention. In the case of cancellation/termination, outstanding invoices are required to be paid within seven days of the invoice issue date. 

8. VARIATION IN TERMS OF BUSINESS:  These terms can only be varied, amended or altered by written agreement between Suzanne Press & Associates Ltd and the client.




Contract

A contract will be available once a piece has been commissioned.

  • Once an initial enquiry is made, it is usual for an assessment in order to discuss treatment options and to prepare an accurate estimate with scope of work.

  • A face to face discussion is also beneficial to discuss, expectations timeframes and conservation priorities.

  • Estimates are generally free of charge, but an artwork or object may require further significant testing to fully inform a projects restoration.

  • This will be a chargeable service and will be discussed and highlighted before any work in undertaken.

  • Condition Reports are produced for each project as standard practice and are provided to the client on completion of a project as a record of the work undertaken and materials used.

  • Off-site projects can also be undertaken as well as private visits. All work is undertaken with the upmost discretion and treated as confidential.
